  • Megasteel did not infringe competition law: MyCC

    April 18, 2016

    – PETALING JAYA – Lion Corp Bhd’s 79%-owned subsidiary Megasteel Sdn Bhd has been cleared of alleged abuse of its dominant position in the domestic market.

    A notice of finding of non-infringement from the Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) dated April 15, 2016 said MyCC determined that there is no infringement by Megasteel of Section 10(1) of the Competition Act, 2010 as stipulated in the proposed decision.

  • Much-needed changes to competition law set |for Cabinet consideration in the next two weeks

    – The Commerce Ministry will submit the draft amendment of the Trade Competition Act for Cabinet consideration within the next two weeks, with the changes aimed at creating a more competitive landscape.

    The bill will expand the act to cover all state enterprises and their subsidiaries involved in business activities.

  • CCI empanels 7 institutes for competition assessment of laws

    January 7, 2016

    – Taking forward its efforts to ensure healthy competition in the market place, fair trade regulator CCI has set up a panel of seven institutions to carry out an initial competition assessment of economic legislations.

    The panel, which includes IIM Ahmedabad and National Law University, Delhi, will carry out the initial competition assessment of the legislations. In September, 2015, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) came out with guidelines for competition assessment of economic legislations and bills.
