  • Passengers on delayed flights will receive compensation

    – HA NOI — Passengers on flights delayed by 15 minutes or more will be provided with drinks, food or accommodation from December 1 this year.

    This follows a circular recently issued by the Ministry of Transport.

    The move was made in response to recent complaints about the increased number of delayed and cancelled flights.

  • Vietnam’s global competitiveness makes little headway

    – Despite some progress in tax and customs reforms, Vietnam’s competitiveness has advanced slightly in the rankings of the Global Competitiveness Report 2014 – 2015.

    The report announced by the World Economic Forum last Wednesday shows that Vietnam moved to the 68th position among 144 economies, two places higher from last year when it ranked 70th among 148 nations.

  • Vietnam slaps anti-dumping duties on steel imports

    September 13, 2014

    – The Ministry of Industry and Trade has decided to impose anti-dumping tariffs on cold-rolled stainless steel products imported from four Asian countries to protect the domestic market.

    Under the ministry’s decision, which will take effect on October 5, the tariffs will be 3.07% on stainless steel imported from Indonesia, 4.64%-6.87% on products from mainland China, 10.71% on imports from Malaysia, and 13.79%-37.29% on imports from Taiwan.

  • Trade deal to widen access to EU

    – HCM CITY – A bilateral Free Trade Agreement with the EU will yield tangible and intangible benefits for both Viet Nam and the bloc, the largest market for Vietnamese products and the country’s second most important trading partner, a top EU official said.

    “The FTA currently under negotiation targets to reduce at least 90 per cent of tariff lines on Vietnamese exports,” Dr Franz Jessen, ambassador and head of the EU Delegation to Viet Nam, told a business lunch organised on Thursday by the EU-Viet Nam Business Network.
